Join the campaign to end child poverty.

Biden’s Plan a Godsend for Appalachia

It starts with education and empathy.

Child poverty is an often overlooked and ignored issue that’s causing trauma and abuse for millions of at-risk children in the United States.  Twenty percent of children in this country live in poverty who are nine times more likely to experience abuse. Poverty is a leading cause of child abuse in the United States.

First, we need to raise awareness and understanding of this hidden crisis. Then we can focus on national and local policies and strategies that mitigate child poverty and protect children from its adversities.

To volunteer and get involved, please email us at childpovertyproject@gmail.com.

The goals of this project are to:

  • Develop and launch an awareness campaign that includes the first National Child Poverty Awareness Day on February 24, 2025, as well as educational workshops and resources for stakeholders, decision makers, and clinicians. We also plan to create a podcast mini-series (end eventually a book) that shares stores of child poverty called "HaveNot."
  • Organize a Child Poverty Symposium with national stakeholders to strategize efforts to alleviate child poverty and its adverse effects on children.
