It starts with education and empathy.

Child poverty is an often overlooked and ignored issue that’s causing trauma and abuse for millions of at-risk children in the United States.

First, we need to raise awareness and understanding of this hidden crisis. Then we can focus on national and local policies and strategies that mitigate child poverty and protect children from its adversities.

The goals of this project are to:

Develop and launch an awareness campaign that includes educational workshops for stakeholders, decision makers, and clinicians, as well as a podcast mini-series (end eventually a book) that shares stores of child poverty called "Where Bad Things Happen."
Organize a Child Poverty Symposium with national stakeholders to strategize efforts to alleviate child poverty and its adverse effects on children.
